“And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed themselves.”
- Kitty O’Meara
Although our studio doors are closed for the time being, we are still gathering together to practice online. In these challenging times, community and connection is a source of great strength. We are inspired to keep the teachings of yoga accessible and available. Our amazing instructors are tuning in to share Yoga via Zoom. We all appreciate your support.
Please join us!
Curious how it works?
Livestreaming is just like taking class at the studio. You can see your teacher and they can see you. You can laugh with your yoga buddies before and after class. During class your mic is muted but if you choose to keep your camera on you will get corrections fro your teacher, just like in a studio class. This way, we can continue to stay calm, de-stress and support each other trough this challenging time
- Sign up like a regular class directly through Punch Pass https://app.punchpass.com/org/5683/classes at least 30-minutes before it starts.
- Download the Zoom App and install it on your device. Here is the link. It’s free.
- When you sign up you will receive a link that will connect you in to your class, so click it 15 mins or so before class starts to say hi to everyone and get settled for your practice. We will also send you the meeting ID and password as backup, in case the link fails. This will come through 15 minutes before the class starts.
Please take some time to set up your yoga space. Roll out your mat, gather your props, set up your camera. Light a candle and/or some incense. Put on your fave chillout music. If you are on social media follow Twisting Peacock Yoga as i will link to some of my fave spotify playlists.
Ideas for props if you don't have them
- a couple of thick books wrapped in a hand towel secured with some duct tape - block
- roll up a few large towels / small blanket and secure with duct tape - bolster
- belt or scarf - strap
We also have brand new bolsters for sale for $72. Better get in quick to arrange collection before we go into lock down
For payment of your classes, you can just use all your regular passes and memberships.
I have also created some slightly cheaper 10 and 5 class passes if you wish to pause your current pass and purchase these let me know. This saves you a few dollars and helps our small business with a bit of money coming in over this very tough time.
Of course, if you do not wish to take part in our LIVE classes please email me and I will pause your passes or membership indefinitely.
Helping us out
Besides keeping up your practice with us, another way you can help TPY out right now is sharing your home yoga class set up on Instagram and facebook then tagging us. Sharing our posts and stories and also just telling your friends about our online classes too!
This goes for supporting all your fave small businesses now too. If you have the means and the virus isn't disrupting your life too much, jump online and buy some vouchers to your fave service industries, order take away from your fave eateries, share and tag all the business you can on your social media. Every little bit helps in these very uncertain times.
If you need help
And if you too have been affected by the virus and lost your job/income please email me and I will set you up with a free pass so you can practice all our classes complimentary until you're back on your feet. I want you all to be able to keep benefitting from the peace and clam that your practice brings you.
Now is the time to come together as a community, isolation is tough for a lot of people, please reach out to your friends and neighbours, check in on the elderly and vulnerable. Do small acts of kindness wherever you can, and if you know anyone who is struggling and would benefit from some TPY love please let me know and I will set them up with some free classes too.
Lots of love Mel & the TPY Team
